A local County Councillor is calling for more action to tackle problems caused by icy roads and pavements in side streets across the area.
A campaigner fighting to save Hinckley's Ambulance Station has welcomed news that the East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) are now considering keeping an Ambulance Base in the town. EMAS had been intending to close 65 Ambulance Stations across the East Midlands, including Hinckley's, and replacing them with 13 hubs, the nearest to Hinckey being in Leicester. Cllr Michael Mullaney, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesman for Hinckley and Bosworth has welcomed the news that EMAS are now considering keeping an Ambulance Station in Hinckley. Michael Mullaney said "I have been informed by Phil Milligan head of EMAS that they will consider the option of keeping an Ambulance station in Hinckley. "It's clear that the huge opposition from local people and Ambulance staff has made EMAS think again. The public meetings in Hinckley, the demonstrations to save the Ambulance Station and the petitions to save the Ambulance Station have all helped.
