Residents urged to show their support for Ambulance Station

Residents in the Hinckley area are being urged to attend a public meeting next Monday to show their support for the future of the town's Ambulance Station. The meeting takes place on Monday 29th October at the St Mary's Church, St Mary's Road, Hinckley, starting at 2pm.

East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) are proposing to close Hinckley's Ambulance Station, along with 65 others in the region, and replace them with thirteen "Hubs". The nearest Hub to Hinckley will be in Leicester.

Cllr Michael Mullaney (Lib Dem: HinckleyTrinity) who has helped to arrange the meeting said "I hope as many residents as possible will attend to show how much support there is for an Ambulance Station being in Hinckley.

"When EMAS held a meeting in Leicester recently only two people turned up. I hope there will be a much bigger turnout at the meeting in Hinckley next Monday which will show EMAS how many people in Hinckley are concerned to keep an Ambulance Station here.

"The Hinckley urban area, including Burbage, Barwell and Earl Shilton has one of the biggest population concentrations in the County outside Leicester. It is vital that an area with a population this size has a permanent base for an Ambulance.
