Residents urged to have their say on threat to Town's 2nd Fire Engine

Local residents are being urged to have their say on proposals that would see the 2nd Fire Engine in Hinckley axed.

Leicestershire Fire Authority are proposing to remove the 2nd, retained, Fire Engine from the town.

This has led to strong opposition from many local residents who are concerned about the plans.

Among the opponents of the cuts to local Fire Services is Hinckley Lib Dem County Councillor Michael Mullaney who said "Over recent years there have been huge cutbacks to the local Fire Services in Hinckley. The Hinckley area, including Burbage, Barwell and Earl Shilton are a growing, large area, we cannot have any more cutbacks to our Fire Service.

"This Thursday 8th October at 7.45pm there's a public consultation meeting about the proposals to cut Hinckley's Fire Services. It's taking place at Hinckley Fire Station, on Leicester Road, Hinckley. I would encourage all local residents who are concerned about the loss of Hinckley's 2nd Fire Engine, to attend the meeting and express their concerns."
