Lib Dem leadership hopeful visits Hinckley

Tim Farron MP the favourite to become the next leader of the Liberal Democrats was in Hinckley today meeting local party members.

A good crowd of members attended an event at the New Plough Inn on Leicester Road Hinckley, where Tim Farron set out his vision for why he wants to lead the party.

Amongst those at the event was the Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for Bosworth Cllr Michael Mullaney.

Michael said "It was great to have Tim in Hinckley, there is a huge amount of support for him to become party leader locally. Tim recognises that Bosworth is one of the strongest areas for the party, recording the biggest vote for the Lib Dems in the East Midlands at the general election.

"Tim will bring the passion energy and charisma that the Lib Dems need to start the party's recovery."

Tim Farron said "It was great to come to Hinckley and meet so many keen Lib Dem campaigners. Looking around the town, seeing the new cinema and shops being built it is clear that the previous Lib Dem run Council had a proud record of delivery locally.

"I am sure that the Lib Dems will over the next 5 years win back Hinckley and Bosworth Council and elect Michael Mullaney as Bosworth's MP."
