Lib Dem Council steps in to offer support for X-ray services in Hinckley

18 Oct 2019

Liberal Democrat run Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council have written to local NHS chiefs offering to loan them the money to bring X-ray services back to the town.

Leader of the Council Cllr Stuart Bray has made the offer to the West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group.

Responding to the news local health campaigner and Hinckley Lib Dem Councillor Michael Mullaney said "last year over 8,000 people had X-rays in Hinckley, it's a crucial local service.

"Residents have lost out because of the constant underfunding of our local NHS by the Conservative government and their failure to deliver the funding the Tory Health Secretary promised us last year.

"I'm glad the local Lib Dem council has the needs of local residents at heart by offering to loan this money to the NHS. I hope the NHS take up this offer and ensure that we have X-ray services back in the town.

"Already many people have signed the petition to get X-Ray services back in the town, there's a clear need and demand for the service to be available in Hinckley".
