£4.5 MILLION FOR SCHOOL PLACES - Cllr Michael Mullaney

Figures released today by the Department for Education show that Leicestershire will be getting £4.524 million to provide extra school places. This announcement has been welcomed by Leicestershire County Councillor Michael Mullaney

Schools Minister David Laws MP has just announced £1.3 billion of funding. This is in addition to the £5 billion allocated over 2011 to 2015 and the £2.35 billion already announced for 2015 to 2017. Leicestershire will gain £4,524,849 in 2018, this funding will allow local authorities to create the new school places the authority will need.

Michael said: "Schools throughout Leicestershire are some of the best in the country and I have had parents contacting me about not being able to get a place at the school that is best for their child. I am glad that Ministers are now ensuring this extra funding is being put into school places."
